Robredo aims to improve his tennis career
After defeating World No. 4 Andy Murray in the Hopman Cup, Tommy Robredo is leaving to compete at the Australian Open with utmost confidence.
The Spanish veteran was victorious in his singles matches, leading him to a second title at the Hopman Cup.
Robredo, who currently ranks No. 16 in the world standings, improved his form for every match in the tournament, giving him the motivation in what could be one of his career’s best years.
“Leaving here without losing any matches is great, it’s better than I was expecting”, said Robredo. “Tonight I’m flying to Auckland because next week I’m playing another tournament and I want to keep playing my best”.
At the age of 27, Robredo has put his goals onto a higher level. He is aiming at accomplishing more in the grand slams this year. Also, he is planning to return to the top 10.
“I’m not going to stop now after winning this title so this is great but it’s already the past”, he said. Click here for more interesting articles.
Since 2003, Robredo has been consistently part of the world’s top 25. He reached a grand slam quarterfinals for five times and made it to the fourth round for 11 times. However, he never passed the semis.
“Now we have to look forward for the next week for the Aussie Open which is the most important tournament and the first (grand slam) one of the year.
“Hopefully, I can keep playing like this and if I do, I’m going to rise to the top rank I’m sure”.
